This is my very first attempt, it has taken a while, but i'm very happy. I took a picture of Aberystwyth I already had put it in photoshop and created a lomo effect. Quite an accomplishment for someone who has never used photoshop before.

Hope you are all good and well.

Two reasons why today was great.

Mar. 29th, 2006 | 05:41 pm

Question: Explain what happened to Guy Fawkes.

1) "... Guy Fawkes knew he had been grassed up so what he did was phoned his mate to tell him that the plan to blow up parliament was bad..."

2) Question: Explain what happened to one of Henry VII's wives.

"Henry didn't like Anne of Cleves because when she turned up she didn't look like her picture so he let her go back to where she came from because she was ugly and a ho!"

I love marking tests, Kids are so funny.

Needless to say they are not my top set, but they are still great.

I would just like to add that these mistakes have nothing to do with my teaching, I have just marked the tests their previous teacher set.

A perfect weekend

Feb. 6th, 2006 | 06:44 pm

Had a really fantastic time in Aber, wonderful to see everyone again. It reminded me that I should make more of an effort to visit when I have some free time. Well hopefully I wont leave it another 5 months. Thank you Dana and Claire for letting me stay.

Had some good news today, my second placement school is not that bad at all. I am going to St Mary's School in Blackpool. Can't wait to start, I have only been in College for a day and was bored to tears.

I wish some bloody people would just accept i'm better than them

Jan. 27th, 2006 | 02:19 pm

What an absolutely shit morning. Today was my second observation and review from a college tutor and all I can say is she is such a bitch. She has a meeting with my teachers I work with in school and they told her in front of me that I was the best PGCE student they have had yet (yes I am sooo smug about this but then I think I deserve to be, its not easy teaching teenagers), anyway its like all of a sudden she thought 'right, well I am going to take you down', and my god she tried. She went so low and at one point I felt she was mocking me. She ripped holes in my teaching file etc etc.

Any ho, I don't care because I rock.

Can't wait until next weekend, very much looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hugs to you all

A little bit of sunshine on a very grey world

Nov. 24th, 2005 | 02:31 pm

I wish it would stop raining, I have to walk across a playground to get to my classes, however, I thought I would just share my joy with you all. I had a formal observation of my year 8 class today and it went so well, i'm proud of myself. I was told my lessons were very interesting, the children really enjoyed the activities and that my classroom discipline was really good. I am certainly on my way to being proper, real life history teacher.

So much joy in my little world at the moment.

Nov. 9th, 2005 | 07:36 am

This time last week I reported that I was never going to be able to teach. I would just like to update that and let you all know, that having done 4 lessons on my own today, I rock at this teaching lark :-)

Aaaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Nov. 2nd, 2005 | 04:43 am

Guys I really, really need cheering up! Just had my first lower school history lesson...on my own...and well, I have never screwed something up so hard in my life, it was terrible, they didn't understand and my explanation skills were just crap. I want to hide in a dark room, never leave and cry.

In other news, really looking forward to the weekend and hopefully seeing some of you. x

Miss (I can't teach yr 9) Drew

Greetings from Lancaster

Oct. 20th, 2005 | 07:56 pm

All is well and good here in the north although i'm a little worn out, but never mind, half term starts tomorrow.
I'm completely getting in to the whole teaching thing and i'm now taking my own classes which i'm loving (although all the paper work is just not fun). All my classes are great and they have even given me my own form group who are...well...spirited. All in all i'm feeling very grown up and important.

Hope you are all well and good.
xxx

One happy bunny!

Sep. 20th, 2005 | 12:35 pm

Having a great time on my PGCE course, it's fantastic having so much to do. Lots of presentation work going on this week which started with my 5 minute lesson opener in which I produced a very wonderful hand drawn map of Europe and Asia, tracking the course of the Black Death...I was so proud.

In slightly more interesting news, and I do mean slightly, i'm a teacher now my life technically ended a week ago, out of all the schools in Lancashire i've been placed in Jon's old school, Kirkham Grammar, where parents pay like millions to send their kids...hope I don't screw up too much.

Hello

Jul. 26th, 2005 | 08:40 pm

Well life has been pretty busy, have just finished teaching history in a local secondary school which was all good.

Graduation was fantastic and it was great to see some of you guys again, wish I could have stayed longer.

All I am now is bored although i'm trying to keep myself busy with lesson planning for next year (yes it is as thrilling as it sounds)I am, however, off to Paris on the 2nd August which i'm quite excited about.

As many of you know Jon is now in Basingstoke which is a little sad as now when I have some free time I will be heading there, I will however try and fit in some time in Aber as long as someone would be willing to put me up for a couple of nights here and there :-)

Really excited about starting PGCE in September, it makes me smile.

Love you all lots and lots

Really, really looking forward to getting my own place with my own internet so I can chat on rockmonkey for hours and hours

Hello

Jun. 18th, 2005 | 09:20 pm

Hello all you lovely people, missing you all like crazy.

Not alot happening down here really, i'm quite bored and my family are driving me crazy. They were okay for about a day when I returned but now they are starting to get to me...never mind.

I have just finished teaching in a primary school, it was certainly an experience. I had a class of 25 8year olds and I actually really enjoyed it, I was quite sad yesterday when I had to say goodbye and listened to them for the last time say, in an 8 year old singing tone, "good afternoon Miss Drew, good afternoon everyone." Any way as off next week I am teaching history in Redruth secondary school, so just a little different to what I have been doing, still I am looking forward to it.

That's about all that's happening at the moment, quite boring, but I wanted to say something. Really looking forward to graduation just because it means I get to be in Aber for a couple of days, I hope some of you are going to be around :-)

Hugs to you all
